Grant, as an empathic personality, struggled to set boundaries and eliminate contestants. Despite his chemistry with several women and indecisive nature, Grant ultimately whittled down his selection to two women: Juliana and Litia. His connection with these women was tangible on screen, but I believe Grant wasn’t confident in a future with either. As he approached the finale, the lead flip-flopped between his final two. This indecision and his surprising proposal to Juliana don’t instill confidence. I don’t think that Grant and Juliana found their perfect match.
Grant Kept Telling Litia That She Was The One
Juliana Seemed Like A Last-Minute Choice
Although Grant and Juliana share a spark, he and Litia seem like the more likely couple. Throughout the season, Grant continuously reinforced his relationship with Litia. He confessed his love for her first, and, according to the now former Bachelor lead, Grant assured her he would choose her. After her heart-breaking elimination, Litia was understandably upset.
When Grant questioned Litia why she felt misled, he recounted his claims of devotion. The season runner-up felt certain, from Grant’s validation, that she would be his wife. Litia felt blindsided. She told Grant:
She would later reveal that her frustrations stemmed from Grant’s manipulation. Litia was so certain Grant would choose her that the night before the finale, she exclaimed, “We're getting engaged tomorrow!” Rather than express his hesitation, Grant shared in her excitement. Grant's inability to decide and switch up regarding his relationship with Litia seemed inauthentic.
If Grant were more sure of his future with Juliana, his final proposal wouldn’t have felt so unsatisfactory. Litia was left heartbroken, and Juliana would have to accept her near elimination in the final hours. I think Grant was put under an unimaginable amount of stress. The lead was presented with two incredible women, and he should have been ready to commit to one. His proposal to Juliana could have been stress-induced rather than genuine.
Juliana & Grant's Chemistry Seems Off
Juliana Didn’t Seem Ready
While Grant and Litia knew what their future would hold, Grant and Juliana were less sure of their intentions.
Although Juliana harbored strong feelings for Grant, neither party seemed ready to use the “L” word. When she visited his family, Grant’s mother, Renee, was unimpressed with Juliana's response when asked if she loved Grant. Juliana wasn’t ready to use that word and expressed, “He is truly somebody that I can see myself being in love with.” Renee reported back to Grant that Juliana wasn't ready and urged, "If she doesn't tell you she loves you, I am asking you to walk away from that." He and Juliana later clarified their position and expressed their love.
Leading up to this home visit, Grant was still unsure of Juliana’s readiness for an engagement. Their confession of love seemed to squash his fears, but the issue could linger. I’m not confident that either Grant or Juliana is ready for the commitment. The stars have only had a few weeks to bond, and The Bachelor's dating environment is tumultuous.
Did Grant Make A Mistake Letting Litia Go?
Grant & Juliana Need To Talk
Grant and Juliana’s love story may not have been the ideal scenario. His indecision and connection with Litia could create resentment unless it’s addressed early. The Bachelor’s latest couple will need to maintain an open line of communication in order to succeed. Only time will tell if they are ready for this challenge.
