Important Eagles dates to place on the offseason calendar

The days have certainly flown by... Or, maybe not... That trip to Brazil was a long time ago. There were more highs and lows than we can count (mostly highs though). Still, no one can argue with the results. This was a very special Philadelphia Eagles season.

Eagles News: ESPN says Philadelphia has the NFL's third-best roster core - Bleeding Green Nation

The 2024-25 campaign featured Saquon Barkley's first tour in the City of Brotherly Love. We still can't believe that happened sometimes.

But, that was only part of it. Zack Baun's first season here was pretty special too. As a pair, he and Saquon became two of the greatest free-agent signings in franchise history.

Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith took the next step. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were their usually impressive selves. Two rookies became stars, Most importantly, Philly won another Lombardi Trophy. Now comes the fun part, navigating another offseason as the NFL's defending world champions

The annual league meeting is held at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida. We close the book on March and move into the month of April.

This serves as the deadline for the prior club to exercise its first right of refusal to RFAs who signed offer sheets. Also, this is the deadline for clubs to time, test, interview, or conduct a physical for draft-eligible players at a location not the team's own.

April 24-26 - 2025 NFL Draft

One of the highlights of every offseason takes place. The 2025 NFL Draft takes place in Green Bay, Wisconsin at Lambeau Field.

May 1 - Teams make decisions about 5th-year options

May 2-5 (or May 9-12) - Rookie Minicamps

Every NFL team is allowed to host a three-day post-draft rookie minicamp. It must either be held between Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday on one of the two weekends that immediately follow the draft.

June 1 - Deadline for prior club to send “June 1 Tender”

This is the final day every NFL team can send June 1 tenders to unsigned restricted free agents who received a qualifying offer for a right of first refusal. If so, they are subject to the CBA’s “June 15 Tender” provision.

June 15

NFL operations explains this flawlessly: (This is) the deadline for a club to withdraw higher qualifying offers to restricted free agents and still retain exclusive negotiating rights by substituting lower “June 15 Tender” of one-year contract at 110 percent of the player’s prior-year Paragraph 5 Salary (with all other terms of his prior-year contract carried forward unchanged).

Late June (Date TBD) - Rookie Readiness Program to be held at individual clubs.

This one's self-explanatory. Also, each NFL team is permitted to open preseason training camp for rookies.

Mid-July (miscellaneous)

Clubs may require rookies to report on a designated reporting date for all first-year players. Veteran quarterbacks and 'injured players' may be required to report to the club’s preseason training camp no earlier than five days before the mandatory reporting date for all other veteran players, but the latter action is executed if the team has already opened (or simultaneously opens) its preseason training camp for its rookies.

July 21 - Two more deadlines

At 4:00 p.m. EST, signing periods end for transition players with outstanding tenders. Also, on July 21 (or the first scheduled day of the first NFL training camp (whichever is later), the signing period ends for unrestricted free agents if a 'UFA Tender' was made by the prior club.

Once this date ends, and until 4:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the 10th weekend of the regular season, the prior club has exclusive negotiating rights.

What did we tell you? We'll have plenty to talk about.
