The Pittsburgh Steelers may have to wait a bit longer to see Russell Wilson take the field for the first time.
The quarterback has been dealing with a calf injury and was listed as questionable on the team's injury report on Friday. Wilson expressed hope that he could play, telling reporters that he will take the field if he's able.
"If I'm ready to go, I will go," Wilson said, via NFL.com.
The Steelers are expected to put Wilson through a workout on Saturday to gauge whether he's good enough to play, but one insider has thrown doubt on that idea. Speaking at halftime of the NBC broadcast of Friday's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers, Mike Florio shared some bad news for the Steelers.
"He's officially questionable, but it sounds like he's closer to doubtful," Florio said.
Florio added that the Steelers feel "fine" if Wilson is hurt and they have to go with backup Justin Fields, who they see as having better long-term potential than Wilson.
