Tight end David Njoku has been a reliable target for the Cleveland Browns since arriving in the NFL. After missing a handful of games with an ankle injury, Njoku showed his versatility in Cleveland’s 21-14 loss to the Bengals, catching 10 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown.

With the Browns now 1-6 and fourth in the AFC North, Njoku is a trade target for multiple teams.

Here are a few possible landing spots for Njoku:

1. New England Patriots

It’s not a secret: The Patriots don’t have much offense.

The Pats are 30th in the NFL in both yards and points per game. New England (1-6) is desperate for a target to join rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots’ loss to Jacksonville on Sunday.

2. Denver Broncos

The Broncos are a sneaky playoff contender in the AFC, and Njoku could be a piece that cements their postseason status.

Adam Trautman is currently listed as Denver’s starter at tight end, and he’s caught just two passes for 32 yards this season. Needless to say, a playmaker like Njoku could take Denver’s offense even higher.

3. Seattle Seahawks

Like Denver, Seattle is a team on the cusp of the playoffs.

The Seahawks (4-3) currently lead the NFC West. While the Rams and 49ers lurk as possible division winners, Seattle has to feel good about its playoff chances.

They already have a star-studded receiver room, featuring D.K. Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett. Adding a tight end like Njoku would give them versatility in short-yardage situations.

4. Los Angeles Chargers

In the first year of the Jim Harbaugh era, the Chargers have utilized their running game more than anything else.

J.K. Dobbins has run for 478 yards and three touchdowns in six games, which is encouraging, considering his injury history.

While Harbaugh is certainly a run-first coach, adding a weapon like Njoku could give the Chargers more options. Justin Herbert has shown his arm talent and accuracy throughout his five-year NFL career, and adding Njoku would give him other options in addition to promising young wideouts Ladd McConkey and Quintin Johnston.

Will Dissly is listed as the Chargers’ starting tight end, and he’s collected only 192 yards in the team’s first six games.

5. Cleveland Browns

If trades don’t work out for the Browns to ship off Njoku, he has a strong role in Cleveland.

With Deshaun Watson expected to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season with an Achilles injury, the Browns will have to lean on every weapon they have. Njoku — listed at 6-foot-4 and 246 pounds — is a threat to any opposing defense with his size and speed.

Whether it’s Jameis Winston throwing Njoku the ball or someone else, the Browns’ offense is better with him in the lineup than without.
