Star Trek: Discovery season 5 has teased a resurrection thanks to the Progenitors' technology, but could Cleveland Booker's (David Ajala) homeworld of Kwejian be brought back to life? The hunt for the clues to the Progenitors' treasure brought Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the USS Discovery to the Eternal Gallery and Archive in the Badlands in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 8, "Labyrinths". Michael passed a test for the final clue left behind by 24th-century Betazoid scientist Dr. Marina Derex. Both Discovery and the Breen have the complete treasure map, and it's a race against time to find the ancient power to create life.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Booker received a surprise from Archivist Hy'Rell (Elena Juatco), a representative of the Eternal Gallery and Archive, in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 8, "Labyrinths". Among the library's vast collection is an artifact from Book's homeworld of Kwejian, which was destroyed in Star Trek: Discovery season 4. The remnant of Kwejian is a boon for Booker, who was driven to exact revenge on the Dark Matter Anomaly's creators, Species 10-C, for Kwejian's destruction (which the USS Discovery ultimately learned was an accident). But Star Trek: Discovery season 5 has now hinted at Kwejian's return and salvation.
Star Trek: Discovery Set Up Resurrecting Book's Dead Planet Kwejian
This would be the ultimate rebirth for Book
The Kwejian artifact given to Cleveland Booker by the Eternal Gallery and Archive is a cutting from the World Root of Kwejian. The World Root used to run throughout the Kwejian planet and symbolized the empathic Kwejians' connection to each other, their ancestors, and their homeworld. Although Kwejian is gone, the cuttings are a literal piece of the planet, and Book was allowed to take it with him by the Archive. This could be the first hint and the first step of Book's potential endgame in Star Trek: Discovery:the rebirth of Kwejian itself.
Book's brother Kyheem (Ache Hernandez) and nephew, Leto (Luca Doulgeris), were among those who died with Kwejian.
Star Trek: Discovery season 5 has continually teased that the Progenitors' technology - which is the literal power of creation - could potentially resurrect the dead. The assumption was that a dead person could be reborn by the end of Star Trek: Discovery, but what if the show is sneakily hinting a lost planet could return? Of course, if Kwejian is recreated by the Progenitors' treasure, the billions of Kwejian's inhabitants who perished in Star Trek: Discovery season 4 are still likely gone for good, including Book's family. But the comeback of his beloved homeworld could be Book's ultimate reward.
Star Trek has already shown planet-creating technology with the Genesis Device in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Who Or What Will Star Trek: Discovery's Progenitors Technology Resurrect?
Someone or something is projected to come back to life
The possibility of the Progenitors' technology bringing back the dead has been discussed throughout Star Trek: Discovery season 5, first by Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp). If someone is resurrected by the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 5, the most likely candidate is L'ak (Elias Toufexis). The Breen Scion died in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 7, "Erigah", and bringing back her lover is the sole motivation of Moll (Eve Harlow) to join forces with the Breen to find the Progenitors' treasure. But whether L'ak is actually the beneficiary of a miraculous comeback remains to be seen.
It could be Burnham's call who gets a 'come back to life free' card.
L'ak is the only Star Trek: Discovery season 5 character who died and has someone intent on resurrecting them. But another Star Trek: Discovery character could still die in the final two episodes of season 5 and come back to life thanks to the Progenitors. Meanwhile, Captain Michael Burnham has passed every test to find the Progenitors' treasure and has been deemed worthy of it. This means it could be Burnham's call who gets a 'come back to life free' card. Given Captain Burnham's romance with Cleveland Booker, Michael could give Book the greatest gift and bring Kwejian back at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 5.
