It would only take one thing to ruin Cam Ward's rookie campaign

The Tennessee Titans prepared for franchise quarterback Cam Ward's arrival by investing in their offensive line in free agency. New general manager Mike Borgonzi signed left tackle Dan Moore Jr. to a four-year contract worth more than $80 million. Borgonzi doubled down on reinforcements by signing veteran guard Kevin Zeitler to a one-year deal.

Acquiring Moore Jr. to protect Ward's blindside also moved 2024 first-rounder JC Latham to his more natural right tackle position. The idea was to strengthen both offensive tackle positions via one move. The bookends have been a weakness in Tennessee for several running seasons, and the pair of Moore Jr. and Latham have the potential to fix a recurring problem once and for all.

The Titans are rebuilding around Ward. While the offensive line has its most promising outlook in quite some time, Borgonzi is still filling out the roster with depth. The lack of desired depth at offensive tackle is one of the more concerning areas on the roster heading into this week's on-field OTA practices.

One injury to Moore Jr. or Latham could threaten to ruin Ward's rookie season.

Titans' lack of depth at OT could derail Cam Ward, 2025 season

The Titans will enter OTAs and eventually training camp with a massive question mark at the swing tackle position. Borgonzi made the prompt decision to release the disappointing Nicholas Petit-Frere from his contract earlier this offseason. Petit-Frere was the most experienced reserve option on the roster, but the Titans should rightfully aim higher than what he's provided in recent seasons.

The problem? There's no indication the holdover players are any better. Jaelyn Duncan and John Ojukwu are the returning options from last season. In 2024, they combined to allow two sacks and 12 pressures via just 178 pass-blocking snaps.

The potential wild-cards are offseason additions Blake Hance and Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson. Hance joined the Titans via free agency. He mostly played guard for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, but he's a utility lineman who earned more than 600 snaps as an offensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns in 2021. Current Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan was his position coach then, and likely played a role in bringing him to Nashville this offseason.

Crenshaw-Dickson was added as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft. Alongside former Miami wide receiver Xavier Restrepo, Crenshaw-Dickson is one of Tennessee's more intriguing UDFAs this year. The Titans gave him a sizable signing bonus, and indications are he'll compete for a 53-man roster spot.

Titans fans are rightfully excited about their offensive line this season. Moore Jr. and Latham should particularly form an effective protection duo on the edges. The Titans desperately need them to stay healthy, because they lack the depth necessary to adequately protect Ward without them.
