The Philadelphia Eagles’ 34-6 beatdown of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday had some history attached to it thanks to Jalen Hurts. The former Alabama quarterback accounted for four touchdowns as the Eagles extended their winning streak to five games.
By completing 14-of-20 passes for 202 yards with two touchdowns and one interception for a passing-efficiency rating of 115.0 and running for 56 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, Hurt became the first player in NFL history to have at least one rushing touchdown, one passing touchdown and a passing-efficiency rating of 100 or better in four consecutive games.
Hurts had entered the game among the four players with three-game streaks – Jim Hart of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1968, Jeff Hostetler of the Los Angeles Raiders in 1993 and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens in 2020.
Hurts also became the first quarterback in NFL history with four seasons with at least 10 touchdowns runs, and he has done so consecutively. Former Auburn All-American Cam Newton is the only other quarterback with three seasons with at least 10 rushing touchdowns.
Hurts scored Sunday’s first points on a 1-yard sneak with 7:05 remaining in the first quarter to become the third quarterback in NFL history with 50 regular-season rushing touchdowns. He Newton, who had 75, and Josh Allen, who has 56 with the Buffalo Bills.
