The Philadelphia Eagles may have only beaten the one-win Cleveland Browns by four, but there is reason for optimism across the franchise.
Not just because they moved to a half-game out of first place in the NFC East, but because their quarterback was a big reason why the team won the game in the first place.
Jalen Hurts has been overly criticized for his turnovers in recent weeks. According to Pro Football Focus, Hurts leads the league in turnover-worthy plays to this point in the season.
That didn't happen on Sunday, though.
Hurts completed 16-25 passes for 264 yards and two touchdown strikes during the Eagles' 20-16 win over the Browns on Sunday. His QBR was an above-average 73.1 while putting on a performance that showcased his accuracy and arm talent.
Not bad for a quarterback who started the game 0-5 from the field.
Philadelphia fans can criticize how the team looks through the first five games. In reality, they are holding the team up to impossible standards while making outrageous demands that don't happen in NFL games.
The reality is that the Eagles' star quarterback has been fine to start the season. He's completed over 67% of his passes while throwing for over 1,000 yards and six touchdown strikes.
If he plays closer to how he did against a good Browns defense on Sunday, those numbers will only increase overall.
