In his first start of the season, Jameis Winston led the Cleveland Browns to a 29-24 upset win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Winston threw for 334 passing yards and three touchdowns. As the Browns trailed by one point late in the fourth, Winston drove Cleveland 69 yards down the field and completed a pass to Cedric Tillman for the go-ahead touchdown that ended up being the game-winner as Baltimore couldn't answer.
After the electric performance and game-winning drive from Winston, fans had high praise for the veteran.
Before Sunday, Winston hadn't started a game since 2022 when he was with the New Orleans Saints. He also hasn't been a starter for a full season since 2019 when he threw 30 interceptions while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Since that season, he's been trying to prove he's capable of leading a team to wins, and he might have done it on Sunday.
Winston snapped a five-game losing streak and provided new energy to a team desperate for a turnaround with the win over the Ravens. Cleveland still has a long way to go to be viewed as a legitimate playoff contender, but Sunday was a step in the right direction and the Browns are hoping Winston can carry his momentum into the rest of the year.
After the upset win over Baltimore, the Browns get a much more manageable opponent next week when they face the Los Angeles Chargers. If they can pick up another win, they could head into their bye week with plenty of confidence.
