Keisean Nixon and 'annoying' Deebo Samuel add fun twist to Packers-49ers rivalry

The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers have a longstanding rivalry. It's not Packers versus Bears, but the 49ers and Packers have had some memorable clashes over the years — especially in the playoffs.

It's overall a rather even playoff series, but the the 49ers have gotten the best of the Packers in recent memory. They've won the past five playoff matchups between the two historic organizations in a row, including last season when the 49ers beat the Packers in the NFC divisional round.

One might say that San Francisco has a stranglehold on Green Bay. Enough, at least, that it's justifiable that there could be some smack talk coming out of the Bay Area and heading in Green Bay's direction.

That's apparently been the case between Deebo Samuel and Packers cornerback/kick returner Keisean Nixon. In fact, in a recent interview with Kay Adams, Nixon, an All-Pro returner, called the 49ers star "annoying."

Adams asked Nixon about the upcoming season's Week 12 matchup between the 49ers and Packers, and he relayed that he's been hearing smack talk from Samuel and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir ever since the San Francisco's last victory.

"Deebo's annoying," Nixon said. "He likes FaceTime. He likes to talk crazy in your face."

This is a fun twist to the rivalry, but keep in mind that what seems like fighting words from Nixon really is playful banter. Nixon and Samuel are former teammates from their time at South Carolina, and the two are cool.

That doesn't mean it won't be an intense game come Week 12, though. Both the 49ers and Packers have teams worthy of winning a Super Bowl in 2024, so it's going to be a big game.
