New Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is expected to bring in one of the top assistant coaches in college football, according to a report on Sunday.

Dallas elected to promote Schottenheimer from offensive coordinator following the decision to part ways with former head coach Mike McCarthy.

New offensive line coach Conor Riley, a former assistant at Georgia Southern, was the first college coach to come on board under Schottenheimer. And the franchise is reportedly dipping back into the college ranks for a similar role under offensive coordinator Klayton Adams.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Oregon co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Junior Adams is signing with Dallas as wide receivers coach.

Adams, 45, spent the last three seasons under head coach Dan Lanning at Oregon. The Ducks made the College Football Playoff in 2024 after finishing a perfect 13-0 in the regular season and securing a Big Ten Championship in their first season in the conference.

The Fremont, Calif., native played wide receiver for Oregon State and Montana State before getting his coaching start with Montana State as wide receivers coach in 2004.

Adams went on to serve in the same role for Eastern Washington, helping develop future All-Pro receiver Cooper Kupp  of the Los Angeles Rams. After a three-year stint at Boise State, Adams took on his first coordinator role at Western Kentucky in 2017.

Adams made the jump to the major conference ranks in 2019 as wide receivers coach at Washington, where he mentored another future All-Pro wideout in Rams' Puka Nacua.

After spending the 2021 season as offensive coordinator with the Huskies, Adams followed Lanning to Oregon in 2022.

The Ducks' offense flourished with the help of Adams, producing the nation's No. 9 scoring offense in Adams' first season before finishing second and 17th in that metric over the next two seasons.

Losing a valued coach like Adams is never welcomed, but Lanning and co. will still have continuity within the group given offensive coordinator Will Stein's return.
