The New York Jets are finally starting to name some finalists regarding their front office makeover.
After a report surfaced earlier on Monday that a second head coach interview will be conducted in New York, now one relating to their vacant general manager position has been noted as well.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lance Newmark from the Washington Commanders will get the first crack at having a second conversation with the Jets regarding their GM search:
Jets are scheduled to interview former Lions executive and current Commanders’ assistant GM Lance Newmark on Tuesday for their general manager job, per sources. This will be Newmark’s second GM interview with the Jets.

The update on Newmark comes just hours after it was reported that Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn will be the first coach to speak to New York for a second time. That’s regarding the Jets’ search for a head coach, which means we’re starting to see some finalists surface for positions.
Newmark has only spent one year as the assistant general manager in Washington. Prior to that, he was with the Lions for more than two decades.
Naturally one can point to the overlap Newmark has had in Detroit with Glenn. That could be a duo seriously in contention to head to New York considering their relationship.
Newmark’s first interview took place on Jan. 11.
