The Tampa Bay Lightning have hit a rough patch, losing each of their last four games. This includes losing all three of their games during their California road trip.
While the Lightning are struggling, they are still in a prime position to be buyers this season. They currently have a 20-15-2 record and trail the third-place Boston Bruins by just three points in the Atlantic Division standings. The Lightning also have five games in hand.
When looking at the Lightning's current roster, it is fair to say that they could use another impactful bottom-six forward. The Montreal Canadiens have a very fascinating option in winger Joel Armia.
Armia, 31, is standing out as a potential trade candidate, as he is a pending UFA on a Habs club that currently does not hold a playoff spot. Thus, if this remains the case as we get closer to the deadline, the Canadiens could very well move Armia.
Armia is having a solid season with the Canadiens, posting seven goals, 18 points, and a plus-3 rating in 39 games. With numbers like these, he could be a solid addition to the Lightning's third line. In addition, due to his solid defensive play, he would give the Bolts another clear option for their penalty kill.
Nevertheless, with the Bolts needing more depth offensive production, acquiring a forward like Armia could be excellent.
