Detroit Lions DB Morice Norris left Friday night's preseason matchup with the Atlanta Falcons in the back of an ambulance after a scary scene played out following an attempted tackle by the former Fresno State University standout.
Fortunately, the initial reports from Dan Campbell regarding Norris's health were positive as the Lions' head coach confirmed that Norris had feeling and movement in his extremities.
Saturday morning, Norris took to social media to share with the world that he is "all good," and that there was no need to stress over his condition. That didn't stop him from giving thanks to everyone who checked in on him to make sure he was doing well.
Lions CB Morice Norris Says He's "All Good," Following Frightening Injury
With 14:31 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Falcons took one final snap, and then the game was ended after quarterback Emory Jones held onto the ball for nearly eight minutes. Both Lions head coach Dan Campbell and Falcons head coach Raheem Morris saw no upside in continuing a preseason matchup that had little to no bearing on either team when compared to what Norris was going through at the time.
Regardless of what the NFL thinks of the decision made by Campbell and Morris, the coaches know that they made the right decision, not only out of respect for Norris and his family but for every other player on the field. Attempting to get yourself mentally ready to continue a game as physical as football after seeing one of your peers leave the field in such a devastating way is not something you can just place to the side.
Hopefully, Norris can bounce back from this injury and feel no long-lasting effects from the hit. As Campbell and Morris know from their own days as players in the NFL, some things are far more important than a football game, like the overall health of the 24-year-old defender.
