The Detroit Lions' Kerby Joseph is one of the hardest hitting and most impactful safeties in the National Football League, but his no-holds barred tackling style hasn't always won him fanfare.

Lions' Kerby Joseph Posts 6-Word Message in Protest of 'Dirtiest Player in the NFL' Announcement

Recently, Joseph took note of an unofficial distinction given to him by a well known NFL reporter, responding with a hilarious message on X in protest.

"Naw man that's the wrong DPOY," Joseph said with three laughing and crying emojis as he retweeted a post from NFL scribe Dov Kleiman, who revealed that Joseph was voted as the 'Dirtiest Player' in the NFL.

Joseph's message was posted in reference to the Defensive Player of the Year award, an official distinction given at the end of the season.

The ex-Illinois Fighting Illini star has put up an impressive stat line with coach Dan Campbell and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn's team this season. He has amassed seven interceptions along with 10 pass break-ups and 41 total tackles as the Lions' defense has held down the fort amid several injuries.

Joseph was called "dirty as (expletive)" by former Lions and current Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford last season, a moniker that Joseph has had a hard time shaking ever since.

"TBH y'all just calling me dirty cs y'all favorite QB said it and that he seen it on film lol," Joseph said in a recent tweet following his previous one.
