Lions rival faces growing crisis after draft choices stir tension

Following the 2025 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions' road in the NFC North did not get any easier. The division sure looks as though it's going to be a difficult road, but that's no surprise.

3 Most Likely Lions Draft Targets for the No. 28 Overall Pick

Detroit may have lost several coaches over the course of the offseason, but one thing this team has going for them is continuity within their roster, especially at key positions like wide receiver.

The bigger names on offense like Jared Goff, David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams along with Detroit's strong offensive line should be more than enough to keep the moment going from recent years.

That wide receiver room, specifically, has four key names returning in St. Brown, Williams, Tim Patrick and Khalif Raymond. Speaking of the wide receiver group, one Lions rival is now going to face some major question marks in that area after the draft.

The Packers made life difficult on themselves after the NFL Draft

Take the Green Bay Packers, for example, and they have a whole lot less clarity at wide receiver than the Lions do. Green Bay opted to use two of their top picks on wideouts in Matthew Golden and Savion Williams.

While both are good players, they also come into a very crowded room with the likes of Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks. That's already a lot of mouths to feed, so what do the Packers do going forward?

Watson is a special case because he'll be recovering from injury and isn't going to be ready for the season. However, Doubs could still be a major question mark. Packer fans saw Doubs have his share of issues last year with doubts about his role in the offense. Is it time for them to move on from him?

Both Doubs and Watson are in a contract year, too, which makes this even more interesting.

Some Packer fans loved what they saw from Wicks on a limited basis as well. With two top-drafted rookies, Wicks has to take a back seat once again, right? That probably won't sit well with a player who has shown some promise.

The bottom line is this: the Packers have a tough road ahead with some decisions to make at wide receiver. There's already drama that's been started by running back Josh Jacobs clamoring about the need for an alpha wide receiver on that roster.

Now, after having added two rookies to the room, Jacobs could have gotten his wish. But at the same time, drama could unfold.
