As the Detroit Lions head into a new season, they have a lot of work ahead, but it’s not all about football. The players and coaches on the field are real people and all have families and loved ones, which make up the most important part of their lives. Football is huge, but having a solid family, whether that’s a spouse or simply loving people around, means everything.
Now, Lions quarterback Jared Goff has announced some major news in that he and his wife, Christen Harper-Goff, have welcomed their first baby together, Romy Isabelle Goff.
As soon as Goff and his wife made the announcement on Tuesday, July 15, the congratulations started to come pouring in. A handful of Harper-Goff’s famous model friends have sent their congratulations, as well as the Detroit Lions themselves.
Detroit Lions Wish Jared Goff Congrats
Goff and his wife took to Instagram to share their good news with a post that simply said the name of their new baby, “Romy Isabelle Goff,” with a pink heart and photos of the new baby with both parents.
The Detroit Lions’ official account was quick to send their well wishes right away, stating, “Congratulations” with two exclamation marks and three pink hearts.
Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Katie Austin commented, “She’s Here” with a bunch of exclamation marks and “I love her so much.” Podcast host and comedian Shannon Ford Middleton added, “She is so so so so perfect. I’m thrilled for you guys” with a bunch of hearts. Model Mara Teigen added, “Congratulations mama! Welcome to the best part of life.”
The Detroit Lions also sent out a post on X with the news, including a photo of Goff and his wife with the new baby.
“Dad energy this year will be epic Goff,” one follower said on the post. “Even as a Packers fan it’s hard not to like and root for Jared Goff to be successful. Just seems like a good person. Congrats Goff,” another stated. “Well congrats to you both on your new bundle of joy,” one more said.
We here at Heavy Sports send Goff and his wife our deepest congratulations.
Some Kind Words for Jared Goff on the Field
On the field, Goff is getting some respect. In CBS Sports’ 2025 quarterback feature going into the new season, analyst Cody Benjamin says of Goff, “Creating something out of nothing isn’t his strong suit, and his turnover spree to close 2024 evoked memories of his skittish finish with the Rams, but Goff has also proven to be an increasingly efficient point guard for the Detroit Lions’ all-star weaponry. A clean pocket means he’s capable of shepherding a shootout with anyone.”
“No position gets more credit for a team’s success, and no position gets more heat for a team’s failure,” Benjamin adds. “Many people overstate the quarterback’s importance relative to the rest of the team; some understate it. No matter what, people are always talking.”
Benjamin also has Goff in the second tier of quarterbacks, calling him one of the “borderline stars.” Matthew Stafford is on that tier, too.
