Luka Doncic just humiliated the Mavericks — and he only needed a few words to do it

Doncic has, without a doubt, made it this offseason's priority to get back at the Mavericks and the comments that were made about him as they shipped him to the Los Angeles Lakers for seemingly no reason at all. While Doncic has had weight and conditioning concerns in the past, he has clearly made it a mission to prove to Nico Harrison and all of the Mavs front office members who made remarks about his body and work ethic on his way out the door that they were wrong.

It's well recorded that the Mavericks talked down about Doncic as he left Dallas for his new home, but recently Doncic got the last laugh as he not only dissed the Mavericks but also subtly gave Harrison a slap to the face on national TV.

Luka Doncic throws subtle jab at Mavericks during Yankees broadcast

In a recent interview where Doncic was able to join the New York Yankees' broadcast, announcer Michael Kay asked him if he would mail in a copy of Men's Magazine to the Mavericks, and he responded with perhaps one of the best roasts in recent memory.

"They probably saw it," Doncic said. "I don't have to worry about that."

This was not only the perfect response to a question asking if he would mail in a copy of himself looking in the best shape of his career, but this also shows Doncic is truly on a mission to prove those who talked badly about his name wrong.

In the past, Doncic has always gotten the last laugh when it comes to feuds on the court, whether by ending a team's season or by dropping a near buzzer-beater in a player's face. This was no different with the Mavericks.

To some fans, this may have rubbed them the wrong way as it was not only a slap to the face of Harrison but also everyone in the Mavericks organization, but Doncic has every right to feel the way he has.

While the Lakers will have plenty to focus on this summer as they continue to build around Doncic and potentially mend their relationship with LeBron James, they can at least know for certain that anytime they play Dallas, Doncic will be on a burner watch. The last time Doncic made his return to Dallas, it was an emotional event where he would end up dropping 45 points in a Laker win, but next time, it seems like he will only be out for blood.

Looking forward, this may have been the perfect motivation Doncic needed to kickstart what could be an all-time great season if he continues to focus on his body and making strides in the gym. With a healthy and in shape Doncic, the Lakers will still have plenty of roster problems, but that is one less factor to worry about as they look to make the playoffs.
