The New Orleans Saints offense was horrific in the first half of their Week 15 loss to the Washington Commanders. It improved with Spencer Rattler under center in the second half, but one of the storylines entering the game continued to dominate in the postgame.
Marshon Lattimore played a great game in his return to New Orleans. It was his first game for Washington since he was dealt to the Commanders just before the trade deadline.
Lattimore's return
The former Saints cornerback and Pro Bowl defender did not allow a catch and was not targeted on Sunday.
Of course, the Saints were without their top two wide receivers in Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, but they did not even give him a chance to make a play on the ball while they were on offense.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn gave Lattimore a game ball for his shutdown performance against his former team.
Meanwhile, Jayden Daniels played a great game at QB for Washington, against New Orleans' secondary. The young quarterback went 25/31 for 226 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for 66 yards, too.
Regardless, he was quite efficient against the Saints defense. That being said, the black and gold defensive line got to Daniels early an often.
They totaled eight sacks against him. Yes, you read that correctly. Both Cameron Jordan and Chase Young had fantastic outings on the pass rush.
Lattimore's performance certainly rubs salt in the wound for New Orleans, but trading the former star CB still makes plenty of sense for the long-term plans in New Orleans on defense.
