Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur rubbed salt in the wound of Tennessee Titans fans after his Packers (2-1) embarrassed the Titans (0-3) in Nashville on Sunday afternoon.
With former Titans quarterback Malik Willis under center, Green Bay hung 30 points and dominated from start to finish. A 30-14 final score was not what many people had in mind when they knew Willis would be the opposing quarterback in this matchup.
LaFleur, a former Titans offensive coordinator, knew what was at stake for a Titans team trying to avoid an 0-3 start under new head coach Brian Callahan. Apparently LaFleur has seen Titans fans online joking about a nightmare scenario where Tennessee lost to Malik Willis too. Because when that nightmare became reality, LaFleur was ready to troll his former organization.
During postgame press conferences, the fire alarms in Nissan Stadium were briefly triggered. "They told me this city was gonna burn if we came in here and won the game, so I guess it is," LaFleur quipped.
He's not far off. The outrage is real. And the noise is starting to get real loud in Nashville.
For all of the hype surrounding the Titans this offseason and all of the acquisitions, it's puzzling how Tennessee could still be struggling on the offensive line. They don't generate turnovers, Will Levis has been turning the ball over too frequently, the run game has been struggling, and special teams are sloppy.
As Callahan said on Sunday afternoon, the Titans have not been good enough in any area to start this season. It hurts even more to lose to LaFleur and Willis.
