Moose on the Loose: Haason Reddick

NEW YORK (PIX11) — I really don’t care what has or what has not been said between the two parties, what emotions come into play, or how prideful some may be. The New York Jets have no other choice now but to engage Haason Reddick’s camp and get him into Florham Park.

In the Jets’ victory Sunday in Tennessee, the Jets lost edge rusher Jermaine Johnson to an apparent Achilles tear. They are very thin at the position with Will McDonald, Micheal Clemons, Takk McKinley and Braiden McGregor. The Jets defense is predicated on their front four generating pressure.

For general manager Joe Douglas, he has no other choice but to swallow the pride and rectify the Reddick situation. He now has the leverage after the injury. You would not have acquired him from the Eagles if you did not feel that you needed him. That was then. Now you really need him.

Talent is talent. In the last four years, Reddick has generated 50.5 sacks. He has a unique and coveted ability to get after the opposing quarterback. So, if the Jets are going to get where they want to go, Reddick will have to be a part of this.

McDonald was fantastic Sunday as he had three sacks against the Titans. The Jets will need more of that and Reddick to make up for the loss of Johnson. You could make the argument the Jets were short at edge rusher with a healthy Johnson. Now he is hurt and the Jets have no other choice but to make Reddick happy and get him into Florham Park. Enough is enough.
