Myles Garrett drops massive hint about Browns future amid trade speculation

All-Pro pass-rusher Myles Garrett recently suggested on multiple occasions that he could ask the Cleveland Browns for a trade this offseason because he doesn't want to be part of a rebuild coming off the club's 3-14 campaign.

During the latest episode of the "Hard Knocks: In Season With the AFC North" program that dropped Tuesday night, Garrett hinted he believes he can be part of a quick turnaround for the Browns.

"I've talked to [general manager Andrew Berry]," Garrett explained during a show segment, as shared by Grant Gordon of the NFL's website. "How we gonna make the most of all the talent that is here? We're closer than some may think we are."

Garrett turned 29 years old in late December and is under contract through the 2026 season. Some have speculated he could be worth multiple first-round draft picks if he attempted to force an exit from Cleveland, but it sounds like he's committed to staying put through at least 2025.

"Everyone wants to know how we can get out of the rut that we're in and get back to winning games," Garrett added, "and making a run instead of making plans."

Of course, the biggest questions hanging over the Browns this winter have to do with the club's uncertain quarterback situation. 2024 Week 1 starter Deshaun Watson may never take another meaningful snap for the Browns after he originally went down with a torn Achilles on Oct. 20 and then suffered a significant setback.

Even before Watson required a second surgery, the Browns were linked by some with veteran options such as Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets. Either could sign a team-friendly contract with Cleveland and then mentor a rookie such as Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.

Analysts such as Dane Brugler of The Athletic have repeatedly said they don't believe Cleveland will "force the pick if the right fit isn’t there" regarding the club possibly taking a quarterback with the second choice of this year's draft. With that said, both Ryan Wilson and Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports predicted recently that the Browns will grab Sanders with one of the draft's first two selections.

Whatever Berry told Garrett about the franchise's offseason intentions, it seems the reigning Defensive Player of the Year liked what he heard.
