Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts previously shared how he had some "great moments" with head coach Nick Sirianni as the two spent parts of the team's Week 5 bye working on fixes for what was a 2-2 club at the time.
Shortly after Philadelphia earned a fourth-straight win via Sunday's 28-23 victory over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars (2-7), Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean spoke with Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated about how Sirianni, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio "took their share of responsibility for the uneven start" during what Breer referred to as "a couple days of reflection" amid the team's bye.
"We had real conversations with each other," Dean explained. "We all said we can do better, with everybody in our [position-group] rooms. We talked about what others could do better, where we thought ourselves individually could do better. We got real with each other, and we made adjustments. Coaches knew they had to do better, just like we knew we had to be better."
Sirianni reportedly entered September on the hot seat after his relationship with Hurts allegedly became "fractured" during the team's collapse last season. More recently, Sirianni raised some eyebrows when he chirped at fans late in Philadelphia's Week 6 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Jimmy Hascup of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com noted that Sirianni was responsible for some questionable decisions during the Jacksonville game that the Eagles led 22-0 in the third quarter before the Jaguars rallied and nearly stole the game. In the end, a Dean interception with 1:38 remaining in regulation preserved Philadelphia's latest win.
"The big thing was fundamentals, tackling and then executing," Dean added about what the Eagles wanted to improve when they were 2-2. "Fundamentals, executing and communication. That was the thing that we didn’t have, that we weren’t as good at. That was more detrimental to us. We harped on the details and the fundamentals."
As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the Eagles as 6.5-point favorites for this coming Sunday's game at a 3-5 Dallas Cowboys side that was dealing with injury issues even before quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb were banged up in Dallas' 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
