New Details Revealed Regarding Possible Russell Wilson-Steelers Reunion

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still in need of a starting quarterback. After Aaron Rodgers was in the building on Friday, it seems likely that he is the primary candidate.

Over the last couple of weeks, the option of simply re-signing Russell Wilson was still on the table. That may not be the case anymore.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Steelers, Wilson played in 11 games. He completed 63.7% of his pass attempts for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 155 yards and two more scores.

Wilson could have come back with weapons like DK Metcalf and George Pickens and had a big year.

A new update seems to have put an end to that idea for both Pittsburgh and Wilson.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero on the "Rich Eisen Show," Wilson is not expected to be back for the Steelers.

"Nothing shocks me, but I would be very surprised if Russell Wilson, under any circumstances, is back in Pittsburgh," Pelissero said.

He continued on, offering more about how the team feels about Wilson as a potential option.

"They're now making clear they would like to sign Aaron Rodgers over Russell Wilson," he said. "He is no better, and maybe even lower, than their third choice."

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter also gave up an update on where Pittsburgh stands with Rodgers after his visit.

"Aaron Rodgers spent about six hours at the Steelers’ training facility today, meeting with their coaches. It was said to be a positive visit, and the two sides will stay in touch," Schefter wrote on X.

Where could Wilson end up if not with the Steelers? Both the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants have been heavily connected to him over the last week.
