New England Patriots Sign Defenders OT Yasir Durant

In our first DC Defenders to NFL transaction of the offseason, the New England Patriots have signed OT Yasir Durant. Durant, previously a Patriot, was a standout for DC this year – and now makes his way back to a familiar place.

Yasir Durant has been with the DC Defenders the last two UFL seasons. Last year, he showed quite a bit of versatility – starting out the season at guard, and then moving to tackle due to a plethora of injuries on the O-Line.

This season, Yasir came into the season as the starting left tackle, and maintained his position throughout the year. On 788 snaps (including playoffs), Yasir allowed just one sack, and eight total pressures – serving as one of the top linemen in the UFL.

Durant played at such a high level that he earned All-UFL honors this season in DC

Now, he locks in a well earned opportunity to return back to the NFL. Yasir is no stranger to New England, having played in eight games with the team during the 2021 NFL season. Durant bounced around between the Saints, Patriots, and Chiefs throughout his career in the NFL.

Without the national platform that the UFL provided Yasir with, who knows if this opportunity would have been made possible. You can stay up to date on all UFL to NFL signings with our official tracker.

Note: New England has become a pipeline for Defenders O-Lineman. They signed Liam Fornadel, DC’s starting RG, last year – and he remained on the PS through most of the season.
