The New York Mets have made some interesting comments about the Los Angeles Dodgers over the past few days.
The Mets are a team the Dodgers have to watch out for, but on paper, the two aren't comparable.
Los Angeles is clearly the best team in the league, and until somebody beats the Dodgers in a meaningful playoff series, there isn't anything to suggest otherwise.
When factoring in all of the moves the Dodgers made this winter, someone has to knock them off the throne before taking them seriously.
New York could be that team, but the comments some of its players have made in recent days aren't exactly something they should be saying unless they want the Dodgers to remember them come October.
Despite that, on Wednesday, David Stearns spoke to the media and had nothing but great things to say about the Dodgers organization, perhaps walking back some of the comments his players made.
"That's an organization that has had tremendous continuity now for over a decade. On all sides of their operation, they're run very well. They've had consistent success. That's great competition for us. They're a good organization, good team, and I look forward to competing against them. We understand who (the Dodgers) are in our game right now and the success they've had," Stearns said, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic.
At the very least, it shows there's some respect from the Mets organization for the Dodgers.
Not that Los Angeles needs the Mets' validation, but it's always nice to hear about how elite the organization is from top to bottom.
