NFL insider's recent update gives Packers a huge boost heading into Week 2 matchup against Colts

Jordan Love's injury has already been a tough enough blow for the Green Bay Packers as the team heads into Week 2 of a young 2024 season, so it's easy to see why Jayden Reed's recent health update is such a big deal.

Especially after the huge game he had against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Reed is expected to play on Sunday after he popped up on Friday's injury report with a calf/shin issue. His limited participation rendered him as questionable, but it sounds like he's good to go.

Reed had the game of his life against the Eagles, catching four of his six targets for a career-high 138 receiving yards and a touchdown. He also added a 33-yard rushing touchdown on an end-around, showcasing the versatility and explosiveness that made him a second-round pick and allowed him to have one of the most successful rookie receiver seasons in Packers history.

The performance marked Reed's second 100-yard game in his career, with his first coming in the 2023 season finale against the Chicago Bears, where he recorded four receptions for 112-yards in that game.

The Packers offense will be limited without Love, so having Reed is absolutely crucial. His presence will keep the Colts defense spread out and on its toes, because it's hard to tell just exactly how he's going to get the ball on any given snap. That, along with simply providing the presence of a top weapon, is huge for Malik Willis, who is expected to be the starting quarterback.

Either way, it's good news for the Packers, who are looking to avoid their first 0-2 start since the 2006 season.
