After starting the NFL season 7-2, the Washington Commanders are in the middle of a two-game losing skid with two games to play before their Week 14 bye.
Enter Monday, Jayden Daniels' leading receiver, Terry McLaurin, ranks sixth in the NFL with 721 receiving yards through 11 games. Washington's next-closest wideout, Noah Brown with 355 yards, has less than half of McLaurin's 2024 yardage.
Bleacher Report's Matt Holder suggested a move for the Commanders to "make now" — signing two-time All-Pro wide receiver Michael Thomas — to bolster its top-heavy receiving corps.
"There's room to add a receiver before the stretch run, and Michael Thomas is the top perimeter pass-catcher still available," Holder wrote in B/R's NFL Team Needs roundup for Week 12. "The 31-year-old is past his prime but showed last season that he can still contribute."
"McLaurin is a terrific receiver, but the depth behind him remains questionable at best," Holder added. "The Eagles did a great job of limiting McLaurin on Thursday, and Commanders wideouts finished with just four combined receptions."
Thomas lasted played in 2023, when he caught 39-of-64 targets for 448 yards and a touchdown in 10 games (seven starts).
The three-time Pro Bowler led the NFL in receiving in 2019 after hauling in 149 passes for 1,725 yards with Drew Brees under center, but has battled injuries in recent years.
