The Green Bay Packers may not be done adding to the wide receiver room just yet.
Signing former Kansas City Chiefs receiver Mecole Hardman earlier this week, the Packers have an arsenal of capable pass-catchers, but none of which are surefire No. 1 wide receivers.
While rumors of DK Metcalf and Davante Adams flourished at the beginning of free agency, the market is now barren of top-tier talent at this stage of the offseason.
However, the Packers seem to be turning their attention to the upcoming NFL Draft and made a grand gesture to the consensus top receiver in this year's class.
According to ESPN's Jordan Reid, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst was the only general manager in attendance at a private workout held by Arizona star Tetairoa McMillan.
The 6-foot-4, 219-pound Wildcats receiver is the No. 9 overall pick on the consensus board, which means Green Bay, holder of the 24th overall pick, may have to move up to land him.
McMillan ran in the 4.52-4.56 range in his 40-yard dash at the workout, according to Reid, which is in the range of what scouts projected for the 21-year-old receiver.
An All-American in 2023 and 2024, McMillan caught 90 passes for 1,406 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023 and 84 passes for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. He is Arizona's all-time leader for receiving yards (3,423) despite playing only three seasons. McMillan also holds the single-game receiving yards record (304 vs. New Mexico in 2024).
A big receiver who can thrive outside but also has the versatility to create separation at every spot, McMillan is garnering NFL comparisons to Mike Evans and Tee Higgins.
If McMillan can live up to those comparisons, he surely would be worth the trade-up for a Green Bay franchise deprived of an alpha wide receiver since Adams left.
Since 2022, the Packers have spent seven draft picks at the receiver, including second-rounders on Christian Watson and Jayden Reed, but have yet to see a pass-catcher produce 1,000 yards in a season.
Watson is expected to miss time this upcoming year after suffering an ACL injury in January. He is in the final year of his rookie contract, which is looking like a prove-it season for the 25-year-old.
