The Green Bay Packers will have their starting quarterback Jordan Love under center for the Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Love suffered an MCL sprain in the season opener, a 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He was initially predicted to miss up to six weeks, but the Packers were optimistic that he could return well ahead of projections and opted against placing him on the injured reserve.
This proved to be a smart move, as Love will now get back on the field after just missing two games. He reportedly even considered playing in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans before the coaching staff opted to sit him on the game day.
The Packers weathered the time without Love better than anyone could expect. Backup Malik Willis proved to be a capable replacement and led Green Bay to wins in the past two games.
Love completed 50% of his passes and threw for 260 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick against the Eagles. He had 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions last season, his first as a starting quarterback.
The game against the Vikings is an important one for the Packers. Aside from playing their old rivals, they also need to get a win in order to remain in the hunt for the NFC North title. The Vikings are currently undefeated, and another win against division opponents would see them taking a commanding lead that would be hard to catch.
