There’s no love lost between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, who are NFC North rivals.

Packers' Gary makes bold statement about Bears QB Williams

And while the Bears have plenty of buzz surrounding them after drafting quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in April, Packers defensive tackle Rashan Gary believes when the teams face one another for the first time, Green Bay will have a pretty good handle on how to defend Williams by then.

“In that time of the season, that’s 12 games in, so we’ll have some good tape on him,” Gary recently said on “The Rich Eisen Show.” “Understanding how the Bears want to run their offense through him, or if they’re going to be pass-heavy by that time or run-heavy by that time. So we’re going to understand and have a better feel (for Williams) than we would, you know, Week 1.”

Gary also joked he’d like to be the first to give Williams his “welcome to the NFL” hit.

The Packers and the Bears don’t play until Week 11 — a Nov. 17 game at Soldier Field. It’ll be Williams’ initiation into the rivalry. Their second meeting is the final week of the regular season on Jan. 5 at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay won both meetings last season, claiming a 38-20 road victory in the season opener and a 17-9 triumph in Week 18 that sent the Packers to the playoffs in their first season in the post-Aaron Rodgers era.

Gary has 19 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and two passes defensed in his career against the Bears.
