Patrick Mahomes Had One Word For Rory McIlroy After Beating Justin Rose

Rory McIlroy's thrilling victory over Justin Rose in the 89th Masters Tournament had the whole sports world buzzing. In fact, even  Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes reacted to the epic showdown and sent a message to the 35-year-old pro golfer.

With a one-shot lead over Rose heading into the last hole, McIlroy stumbled with a misstep on the green, finishing with a score of 1-over 73 and forcing the tournament into a sudden-death playoff.

In the playoff, after both golfers pulled off incredible tee shots, Rose narrowly missed his birdie putt, setting the stage for McIlroy's second chance to capture his first green jacket. On that attempt, McIlroy's putt rolled true.

What followed was an emotional moment for McIlroy, who dropped to his knees as the crowd celebrated his historic win.

This victory marks a significant achievement for McIlroy, who secured his place in history by completing a career Grand Slam. He joins the ranks of legends such as Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen as the only golfers to ever do it.

Patrick Mahomes, for his part, took to social media to react immediately after McIlroy's birdie on the playoff hole.

"Congrats!!@McIlroyRory," the quarterback posted.

In his leisure time, Mahomes has pursued his passion for golf—even participating in the American Century Championship celebrity tournament in 2023, along with various other golf competitions. With that said, it's no surprise why he's so invested in the Masters.

As for Rory McIlroy, his historic win at the Masters reinforces his legacy as one of the game's greats, placing him among an elite circle of champions.
