Four NFL teams will be in action on Christmas, meaning they'll be away from their families on Christmas Eve and on the day they should be celebrating with family.
Playing on Christmas also means all four teams, the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers will all be playing three games in just 11 days. Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes wasn't too happy when he learned of the team's schedule.
"All you can do is focus on the game and the practice that you had that day," Mahomes said, via ESPN. "I try to prepare my body all year long for this stretch by tailoring my workouts, tailoring how you practice and you prepare. The coaches do a great job of taking care of us on the practice field. We practice hard as anybody, but they know how to kind of dial it back when we need it.
"It is not a good feeling. I'm excited to play on Christmas to hopefully get back from what we did last year [when the Chiefs lost on the holiday to the Las Vegas Raiders], but you never want to play this many games in this short of time. It's just not great for your body. But at the end of the day, it's your job, your profession. You have to come to work and do it."
While Mahomes and company traveled to Pittsburgh today, he was able to get a little family time in over the weekend. He, wife Brittany and their two children, Sterling and Bronze had a photoshoot with Santa.
Mahomes' mother, Randi, took to the comments section of the photo to show love for the family. "Merry Christmas," she said with a heart emoji.
Kansas City and Pittsburgh kick off on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET on Netflix.
