Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared a surprising detail about what he did before Brittany Mahomes gave birth to their third child. Sure enough, fans had mixed reactions to his revelation.
The NFL star and his wife officially welcomed their second daughter on Sunday. In a joint Instagram post on Monday, the power couple shared an adorable photo of their hands cradling their baby’s tiny feet.
Following the arrival of their youngest, whom they named Golden Raye, the Chiefs quarterback shared a story about when Brittany Mahomes was at the hospital.
In a press conference ahead of the Chiefs' clash against the Houston Texans, Patrick Mahomes praised his wife for showing strength during the birth of their third child and how he couldn’t wait to see his other kids’ reaction.
“It’s been cool. I mean I’m just supporting. Brittany crushed it,” he said, adding, “It’s been cool to welcome another baby girl into our family and see how our other kids react to her and having baby sissy and stuff like that.”
The elite quarterback also revealed that he was able to watch the NFL, thanking his wife for it.
“It’s been a lot of fun and it was cool that football was on TV when I was in the hospital so I got to watch a little bit,” Patrick Mahomes shared. “Brittany was kind enough to let us watch football while she was getting ready to give birth to our second daughter.”
Amid the congratulatory messages from the public, Patrick Mahomes faced some criticism, with a few fans questioning his focus and priorities.
"Football is just a game. Family is more important," one commenter wrote.
While some see it as "dedication" to the sport, others suggested that his focus on the game might overshadow other priorities.
“It is no surprise his entire life is about football,” a second user said.
"Not surprising at all, he loves football, and she loves him, so there you are,” another added.
The same goes for a fan who said, “Hahaha, he is obsessed with this sport!” while another user added, “Sports always on the mind lol especially during the playoffs since they are in it.”
Amid his growing family, Mahomes, alongside the Chiefs, was gearing up for a playoff run and looking to secure their third consecutive Super Bowl title.
