Patrick Queen Explains Why It Was a ‘No-Brainer’ to Sign with Steelers

Patrick Queen made the rare rivalry jump from the Baltimore Ravens to the Pittsburgh Steelers. And it seemed to be something that Queen was willing to embrace, stating that he was okay being ‘the villain’ in the rivalry for Baltimore. And with his press conferences since the signing, he has done nothing but fan the flames since that moment.

In an interview with the Athletic, Queen detailed why it was so easy to sign with the Steelers and, more than that, why he prefers Pittsburgh after being in the city for a short time. It got so specific that Queen expressed his preference for Pittsburgh’s culinary scene over Baltimore’s.

“It was a no-brainer,” Queen said. “At the end of the day, money makes you happy, but you also have to win to be happy. I’d rather win and be happy than be miserable with a lot of money. It’s a better atmosphere here for me. Everybody is cool, the people are cool, the players are cool and the food spots are better. I am a big food guy. I love food. I am more of a true food guy rather than a seafood guy. I like meat and stuff like that. It’s just a better atmosphere for me here.”

I will say that the line about food is a first for me, but Queen has done nothing but fan the flames of this rivalry since he signed the dotted line for the Steelers. That should make the two matchups this season even more fiery.

That will be in the middle of the brutal end stretch to their season where the Steelers will play all six of their divisional games plus the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. But Queen’s involvement in those two Ravens seem set as games circled on his and their calendars.
