Peyton Manning Assigns Blame for Cowboys' Mistake vs. Texans

Peyton Manning initially couldn't believe Cooper Rush's interception early in the Dallas Cowboys' showdown against the Houston Texans on Monday. Upon further review, however, the NFL legend realized it was the quarterback's fault.

For those who missed it, Rush threw an interception midway through the first quarter after he sent the ball directly to Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. The pass was intended for CeeDee Lamb, but the Cowboys wideout collided with safety Jimmie Ward, causing a delay in his run and ruining the timing of the play.

In the aftermath of the botched throw, Peyton Manning, his brother Eli Manning and former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick couldn't hide their disappointment and were left nearly speechless by the shockingly bad interception.

Moments later, though, Peyton Manning broke down the play and expressed belief that CeeDee Lamb was at fault for it and not Cooper Rush.

According to the two-time Super Bowl champion, Lamb should have gotten a "little more depth" and avoided Ward on the play.

"I'm kinda putting that on CeeDee to get a little deeper and come around the horn," Peyton Manning explained, before noting that "It's an anticipatory throw."

Rush and the Cowboys were still able to make things interesting despite the early setback, scoring 10 points in the second quarter to cut the Texans' lead to 17-10 by the end of the first half.

Unfortunately, that's all they could muster, as they ended up falling 34-10. Cooper Rush finished with 354 yards and one touchdown on 32-of-55 pass completion, while CeeDee Lamb had eight receptions for 93 yards in the loss.
