Pickens No. 1 Job Is to Fix Major Dak Problem

The final stone in Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer's offensive gauntlet has been placed - they got a genuine No. 2 receiver.

Seen as the final piece to an offseason puzzle that has been one of the better ones in recent memory, the Cowboys bring in Pittsburgh Steelers receiver George Pickens, who could easily be seen as a No.1 B receiver alongside CeeDee Lamb.

It was the most glaring issue yet to be rectified, and owner Jerry Jones' "substantive" trade talks a couple of weeks ago were nothing but truth.

Looking at the dynamite weapon that Pickens is on the field, and yes, we know about the character stuff as well, but Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and the personable Schottenheimer will all be counted on to help keep Pickens cool during the heat of battle.

And if they can, George could help fix Dallas' biggest bugaboo last season - the red zone.

Dallas' ability to malfunction in the red zone last season was the offense's biggest Achilles heel, with Mike McCarthy's unit ranking 31st for converting red zone trips into touchdowns (just 46 percent, only the New York Giants were worse).

Enter Pickens.

Boasting incredible athleticism and explosiveness, his 6-3, 200-pound frame creates a matchup nightmare for defenses in the red zone.

In his three NFL seasons, of his 12 receiving touchdowns have all come in the red zone, and George gives the Cowboys another dangerous weapon outside of Lamb that defenses have to gameplan for.

Plus, with his ability to be a monster on contested catches, you can bet Dak will be taking some shots in his direction in 2025 with Pickens leading the NFL in yards per reception (16.3), since entering the NFL.

The Cowboys were one of the worst offenses in the red zone last season, and with the acquisition of Pickens, it feels highly unlikely that will be the case in 2025.

The blue and white touch paper has been lit.
