The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost defensive tackle Dean Lowry for the season with a knee injury. Lowry suffered a knee injury during Wednesday’s practice and was being evaluated. Pittsburgh has signed nose tackle Breiden Fehoko to replace him.
If the Steelers do not release Lowry from injured reserve, he is out for the season. Pittsburgh could cut him with an injury settlement if the injury is not serious enough.
Lowry came over to Pittsburgh after being released from the Minnesota Vikings following the 2023 season. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle that ended his 2023 season, but Lowry had multiple strong years with the Green Bay Packers. Still, last year, he was never a critical piece for the team.
Lowry played in 12 games and amassed one sack and just five tackles as a rotational pass rusher. He dealt with a calf injury that forced him to miss time in training camp last training camp, hampering his ability to get off the ground.
The Steelers also released defensive tackle Jacob Slade after he suffered a knee injury. Another defensive tackle, Esezi Otomewo, also suffered a knee injury that has forced him to miss the last two practices.
