Maxx Crosby has dropped the mic.
Crosby, the Las Vegas Raiders' defensive end whose name has been involved in much trade speculation, addressed the pleas from Detroit Lions fans to force a trade back to his hometown.
Talking on his podcast, "The Rush with Maxx Crosby", the three-time Pro Bowler once again stated his desire to remain in Vegas for the foreseeable future.
"I want to be [in Vegas]. I want to be silver and black. I'll say it loud and (expletive) clear; I want to be a Raider," Crosby said. "I've said it over and over and over again, but yeah, it's a business part of it too.
"Like, I don't have 100% control of all that, but I know that at the end of the day, just seeing all the craziness, it's been (expletive) insane. I can't even open my phone."
Crosby, who finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting last season, was born in Lapeer, Mich., moved to Texas during his childhood, and later attended Eastern Michigan. He has been the heavy favorite among Lions fans and media pundits alike to fill the void left behind by an injured Aidan Hutchinson.
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m.
The Raiders, following a 2-4 start, traded three-time All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams last week.
In the days following Adams' trade, The Athletic reported Raiders owner Mark Davis is adamant that Crosby (6.5 sacks this season) is not available. Vegas fell to 2-5 in a 20-15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
"It's just not happening," Davis reportedly said.
Crosby said he occasionally saw himself mentioned by Lions fans in trade discussions last season but has seen the chatter reach a whole new level in recent weeks.
"[Last year is] when it kind of started, like, send me to Detroit. Like, their fanbase is all over me. It was at a lesser degree, though. It was talked about, but it wasn't, like, a thing," Crosby said.
"Now they've started a whole pandemonium, this whole movement, like a revolution, and it's like, I'm sitting here innocently just doing what I do. I feel like I got to address it with my teammates. I'm like, 'I'm not trying to leave.'"
Crosby added, "Every two seconds, it's Lions fans, Lions fans, Lions fans, Falcons fans, Bears fans, it's (a photo of) me in an edit with a different jersey, and it's like, 'What the (expletive) has this turned into?'"
Crosby doesn't want to leave. Davis doesn't want to trade him.
So then it's settled.
Maybe.
