Saints Host Free Agent Tight End Noah Fant for Visit

The New Orleans Saints are working to bolster their offense, and free agent Noah Fant is the latest target. The former Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos tight end is scheduled to visit New Orleans on Friday, according to multiple reports. This move signals that the Saints are still seeking upgrades in key areas ahead of the 2025 season.

Why the Saints Are Interested in Noah Fant

Fant, 26, was originally a first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2019 and was later traded to Seattle in the blockbuster Russell Wilson deal. While his production hasn’t reached Pro Bowl levels, Fant has been a steady contributor. In 2024, he caught 48 passes for 500 yards and has 288 receptions for 3,149 yards with 15 touchdowns in six seasons.

At 6-foot-4 and 249 pounds, Fant offers size, speed, and versatility that could give the Saints an immediate boost. His ability to stretch defenses down the seam and create mismatches against linebackers fits well with what head coach Kellen Moore is trying to build.

Assessing the Saints’ Tight End Situation

The Saints already have depth at tight end, but not enough reliable production. Juwan Johnson struggled with injuries in 2024, and Foster Moreau was primarily used as a blocker. Taysom Hill continues to be a unique weapon but isn’t used as a conventional tight end.

Hill is still recovering from an ACL tear, and Moreau is on the way back from an injured knee. The team did sign undrafted rookie Dallin Holker, but he retired after suffering an ankle injury of his own.

Johnson, Jack Stoll, Moliki Matavao, Michael Jacobson, Seth Green, and Treyton Welch aren’t exactly household names. Dylan Sanders of USA Today’s Saints Wire described the group as “lacking in playmaking talent.”

Fant could certainly help with that problem.

Fant’s Free Agency and Market Activity

New Orleans isn’t alone in courting Fant. He also visited with the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this week. His market seems to be picking up as teams finalize training camp rosters and look to add experienced depth. Fant’s versatility, as both an in-line and flex tight end, makes him a valuable chess piece.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Fant has a “multitude of options” around the league.

What This Means for the Saints’ Offense

The Saints finished last season ranked 21st in total offense and 24th in scoring. With the trio of young quarterbacks competing to start in New Orleans, the team must continue to provide reliable weapons beyond Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara.

Adding Fant on a one-year “prove-it” deal could give the Saints flexibility without long-term risk. It would also give Fant a chance to earn a larger role in an offense that needs more explosive plays down the middle of the field.

Fant’s visit doesn’t guarantee a contract, but it underscores New Orleans’ aggressive approach this offseason. If signed, Fant would likely compete immediately for the top spot on the tight end depth chart. Whether he joins the team or not, the Saints are clearly not finished shaping their roster, and they’re doing it with urgency.
