Hannah Ann Sluss and her husband, Jake Funk, are expecting their first baby together.
“We found out we were expecting during a trip to Dubai,” Sluss, 29, told People on Sunday, June 22. “It was such an unexpected and joyful surprise! A moment we’ll always treasure.”
Sluss and the NFL star, 27, ultimately waited until she was “around 12 weeks” to tell their relatives.
“We shared the news at a family party, and it was the best surprise,” she recalled to the outlet. “Everyone was so excited and incredibly supportive.”
Sluss is now in her second trimester, telling the outlet that she’s “feeling great.”
“The first trimester was all about rest and sticking to the basics — work, walks and taking care of Dash,” she said of the couple’s dog. “I had a lot of food aversions, and almost everything tasted off except fruit, which I’ve always loved.”
Sluss and Funk are now in preparation mode to make sure everything is set up for their little one’s arrival.
“We’ve started talking names and love the idea of choosing one that’s meaningful and tied to family in some way,” Sluss teased to People. “Becoming parents is the greatest gift, and we’re just in awe of God’s goodness in this season.”
Sluss also shared her pregnancy news via social media, complete with stunning beachfront maternity photos.
“Each day growing you is a blessing 🤍 God’s plan is more perfect than we ever imagined,” she wrote via Instagram. “We know God is in this story, and we can’t wait to meet you 👼.”
Sluss, who won Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor, confirmed her romance with Funk in 2022 after initially keeping their connection low-key.
“I wanted to wait to share [our relationship] with everyone because it was our decision,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2022. “We’re very private and, you know, that just seems to be the best for us right now. With my past, things have been public and nothing really necessarily good has come from it, in my opinion. And so keeping things private and just having our own lives outside of social media [makes] it more of a true, meaningful relationship for us.”
Funk proposed in January 2023 after less than two years together. They tied the knot in June 2024 in Italy.
“We wanted to go somewhere that we thought was really adventurous and exciting and it gave us more leisure to have a bigger honeymoon and, for us, going overseas, and being able to explore visit so many different areas, is a once in a lifetime trip for us,” Sluss told Us in July 2024. “I’m not a big planner. That’s one of the reasons why we eloped. So thankfully, I just passed over all of the responsibilities to the production team we hired.”
Funk, for his part, told Us at the time that the entire day was “a highlight.”
“Being able to go through the marriage ceremony in a beautiful location with great people that were around us from the hotel — they made it very easy and very peaceful, which was nice,” he gushed. “And in the castle, there wasn’t really a lot going on, so it felt very private. The whole day it was just very smooth.”
