The New Orleans Saints have parted ways with defensive tackle Ryder Anderson, per a report from Saints insider Nick Underhill. The move comes just months after the team signed Anderson to a futures contract in January.
Anderson, 26, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022, signing with the New York Giants following the draft. Though he didn’t make the initial 53-man roster, Anderson remained a part of the Giants' system, spending time on the practice squad and eventually making appearances during the regular season.
In his rookie year with the Giants, Anderson played in seven games and registered eight total tackles along with two sacks—an encouraging start for an undrafted prospect. Despite the flashes of potential, Anderson was waived ahead of the 2023 season and bounced between practice squads before landing with New Orleans in November.
The Saints offered Anderson a chance to compete for a roster spot by signing him to a futures deal earlier this year. However, with offseason roster adjustments now underway and competition heating up along the defensive line, the Saints have opted to release him as they refine their depth chart.
As a young player with some proven production, Anderson may draw interest from other teams in need of defensive line depth heading into training camp.
