San Francisco 49ers Trade For AFC WR In This Intriguing Proposal

With the 2024 NFL season right around the corner, the San Francisco 49ers are once again being viewed as a Super Bowl favorite. In fact, they’re currently favored to win each and every one of their regular season games.

Even though it’s very unlikely that the 49ers will go undefeated, it’s still an impressive fact about just how good the team is expected to be.

One continuing storyline as the season draws closer for San Francisco is about the future of star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He has yet to agree to a new deal with the 49ers and it doesn’t sound like the two sides have come very close on a long-term deal yet either.

Many believe that the two sides could be heading towards a split next offseason. Others think that the San Francisco 49ers might re-sign Aiyuk, but then move on from Deebo Samuel.

With that in mind, another wide receiver could make sense to trade for as a flier ahead of the 2024 season.

ClutchPoints has suggested that the 49ers should consider trading for a wide receiver. They have listed Tennessee Titans wideout Treylon Burks as a candidate that San Francisco should consider pursuing.

“Odds are that the 49ers re-sign Aiyuk and look to move on from Samuel at some point. It was smart for them to draft Pearsall but they could stand to add another talented receiver to the mix. Burks can be that guy.”

If the 49ers were interested in trading for Burks, the price tag wouldn’t be expensive. Burks has struggled during his first two NFL seasons and has not done anything to improve his trade value.

In the 22 games he has played in two years, Burks has caught 49 passes for 665 yards and a touchdown.

More than likely, the San Francisco 49ers could acquire Burks in exchange for a late-round pick. A fifth or sixth-round draft select seems like a fair possibility.

Going out and taking a flier on a former No. 18 overall pick who is just 24 years old would not be a bad move. If he finally realizes his potential, the 49ers would walk away with a major steal. Should he be unable to turn his career around, he could simply be let go after the 2024 season.
