Sean Lowe Is Worried About Who’s Cast As Joan Vassos’ Golden Bachelorette Contestants

Former Bachelor star Sean Lowe is worried that the men cast on Joan Vassos' upcoming season of The Golden Bachelorette won't be mature enough, despite being of senior age. After much speculation about who would be cast in the lead role, former Golden Bachelor contestant Joan will search for love on The Golden Bachelorette season 1. As of now, Sean is the only Bachelor who married his final choice, Catherine Giudici. They met during The Bachelor season 17, got engaged, and were married during a live television event on January 26, 2014. They have three children, Samuel, Isaiah, and Mia.

The Golden Bachelorette, Joan Vassos, isn't golden enough.

"So one question is, do men ever fully mature? I’m not so sure."

In an interview with Us WeeklySean expressed his concerns that the Golden Bachelorette men might not be mature enough for Joan. He said, "So one question is, do men ever fully mature? I’m not so sure. … Casting men, whether they’re 25 or 65, is probably going to be a challenge regardless of age." However, Sean added, "[but] I’ve got faith in The Bachelor. Those people know what they’re doing. They can probably collect 25 eligible, good-looking, charismatic, older guys if they really set out to do that."

Should Gerry Turner Return For The Golden Bachelorette?

Gerry & Joan Developed A Deep Connection During The Golden Bachelor

During The Golden Bachelor, Gerry and Joan were developing a deep relationship, but it was cut short when Joan's daughter asked her to return home because she had postpartum depression. Joan even later revealed that she almost returned to the show, but the timing wasn't right with her daughter. After Gerry and Theresa Nist's divorce announcement, it's possible that Gerry might appear on The Golden Bachelorette to continue to explore his and Joan's relationship. However, based on his behavior during The Golden BachelorGerry doesn't seem mature enough to be on the show.

Sean's concerns about the maturity of the Golden Bachelorette women are valid, especially after Gerry's Golden Bachelor season. At age 72, Gerry seemed to be a mature man, but his actions during his season proved otherwise. He allowed himself to get caught up in the moment, telling both third place finisher Faith Martin and runner-up Leslie Fhima that he loved them, even though he chose Theresa in the end. Leslie was especially blindsided by Gerry when he broke up with her.

In addition, Gerry's engagement to Theresa and their subsequent television wedding seemed like they were dazzled by the fantasy of the show, but didn't consider how their relationship would translate to the real world. They're getting divorced because they couldn't decide where to live because neither one of them wanted to leave their family. However, Sean is also right that the Golden Bachelorette producers might find the perfect men for Joan. The producers struck gold with Sean, who was arguably the most mature Bachelor, since he's the only one who actually married the woman he proposed to. Hopefully, The Golden Bachelorette cast will have many men like Sean so that Joan can find her happily-ever-after.

The Golden Bachelorette premieres in the fall of 2024 on ABC.
