Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward met in person as NFL rookies on Friday night, and the interaction that followed between two of the most popular quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class got social media talking.
Going into the draft, Athlon Sports' projections had the Colorado Buffaloes and Miami Hurricanes quarterbacks closer on big boards than NFL teams clearly did.
Ward was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans, while Sanders surprisingly dropped to the fifth round, where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns at No. 144 overall.
The first interesting data point for fans to use to compare the two in their professional careers came off the field when they met up live on Sanders' stream during his Browns jersey reveal.
Sanders will wear No. 12 for the Cleveland Browns, departing from the "legendary" No. 2 he wore in college — first at Jackson State, then at Colorado. Meanwhile, top pick Ward was granted the Titans No. 1 jersey by former quarterback Warren Moon after he was drafted.
"It’s funny but kinda sad because Shedeur truly deserves more," said a popular reply on X.
"Love these brothers!" said another popular response.
"I love cam man lol he’s such a good dude," a fan wrote.
"Sheduer funny as (expletive) bro," said a comment from the other side of it. "So much underserved hate man."
If they both make the rosters for the 2025 NFL season, their first opportunity for a real jersey swap will be on Dec. 7, when the Browns host the Titans in Week 14.
