L'ak's shocking death set up Star Trek: Discovery season 5's endgame, and it placed Moll in a dangerous position. L'ak's uncle, Primarch Ruhn (Tony Nappo), still needs L'ak to legitimize his claim as Emperor of the Breen despite L'ak's death. However, Moll took a gamble by revealing the existence of the Progenitors' treasure to Ruhn, and she allied with the Breen to find it, hoping that the fact she is married to the Scion offers her protection. Moll's goal is to find the Progenitors' technology before the USS Discovery and use its rumored ability to resurrect the dead to bring L'ak back.
Elias Toufexis appeared in Star Trek: Discovery season 1, episode 3, "Context Is For Kings," where he first got to act opposite Sonequa Martin-Green's Michael Burnham.
