Steelers' Cordarrelle Patterson Tries To Recruit Disgruntled Davante Adams After Big Win Over Raiders

The Pittsburgh Steelers left Nevada with a big 32-13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. They took every opportunity that was given to them, whether penalties extended drives for them, TJ Watt took advantage of the running backs not tucking the ball enough, or the punt unit forgot to block Jeremiah Moon. The Steelers even had a complete takeover of the stadium, as Steeler Nation represented well despite the game being across the country. It seems like they got whatever they wanted throughout most of the match, but there is still one thing left to take.

After the game, Cordarrelle Patterson tweeted out to Davante Adams to try and recruit him to Pittsburgh. The Steelers are desperate for another wide receiver and Patterson knows it.

It has been no secret that Adams has not been happy with the Raiders. He was initially excited to get traded there so he could reunite with his college quarterback: Derek Carr. However, Carr is now in his second season with the New Orleans Saints after being cut two seasons ago. He seems to not be the least bit impressed with the likes of Aidan O'Connell or Gardner Minshew.

It doesn't help that the Raiders made a terrible decision in hiring Josh McDaniels as head coach. After he was fired, Antonio Pierce took over as interim coach, and eventually got the full-time gig. There seems to be a bit of an impasse between Adams and Pierce, and with all the drama and losing that has gone on in Las Vegas, Adams is seemingly done with everything.

This is not the first time Patterson has tried to get Adams to Pittsburgh. He has sent out a couple of posts on X to try and get the disgruntled receiver to request a trade to the Steelers.

It's no secret that the Steelers' receiving corps has been lackluster at best. It doesn't help that George Pickens has, once again, been all over the news for drama, and was even benched by the Steelers and fined by the NFL for some of his antics. Pittsburgh desperately needs a quality receiver that will just put his head down and play ball. There are some concerns about Adams being a bit of a diva, but that usually doesn't show up until after a trade.

Even though he was inactive due to injury, Patterson still watched the Steelers have their way with the Raiders, especially on defense. He has also seen the offense continually sputter without a truly reliable receiver. It seems like a match made in heaven, and he wants to help get Pittsburgh that missing piece to truly unlock the offense's potential.

Steelers Have Some Hurdles To Get Adams

The Raiders' price for Adams was laughed at by the rest of the league. Omar Khan will have to find a way to make them continue to lower the price until the deal makes sense. At the end of the day, Adams is 32 years old, and he is a very expensive receiver on the books. Teams typically don't like trading for those kinds of players, so the question becomes how low of a price is enough for both the Raiders and Steelers?

After the 2024 season, Adams will have cap hits of $44.1 million and $45.1 million over the next two seasons. However, Adams is no longer due any guaranteed money, so he will likely want a restructure or an extension. Even if the Steelers can complete a trade, they may have to negotiate a contract to make the deal happen, just like they tried to do with the Brandon Aiyuk saga.
