Steelers kicker Chris Boswell has scored more points than the entire Giants offense this season

The 2024 NFL regular season is still young, but if anything, the New York Giants and their early doldrums have been a big headline so far, and it's ruffling feathers for G-Men fans.

Two weeks ago, the team put on an embarrassing season opener performance in their 28-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. They followed it up by allowing the Washington Commanders to score a game-winning field goal, dropping them to a 0-2 start.

It has to get better for the Giants soon, right?

Time will tell, as they still look for win number one in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns. Until then, an interesting stat hit the internet that may continue to aggravate Giants fans after their team's slow start.

Nearly 400 miles away in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Steelers kicker Chris Boswell has more points scored in 2024 than the New York Giants have as a team. Boswell has 25 points this season, compared to the Giants' total of 24.

That's eight field goals and a extra point if you're keeping score.

Boswell was 6-for-6 in the Steelers' season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Three of those field goals were from 50 yards or more, and five of those attempts were from 40 yards or more. That has only happened three other times in NFL history.

The Steelers have some of their kinks to work out, as both their wins were low-scoring games. But a win's a win.

The Week 1 win over the Falcons ended with a final score of 18-10, and on Sunday, they were victorious over the Denver Broncos, 13-6. The Steelers may be atop of the AFC North at the moment, but only a few have them pegged to win the division.

Some of Boswell's outstanding stats need to be mentioned here. His Week 1 showcase of kicking 6-for-6 elevated his field-goal percentage to 87.45, which now ranks him sixth all-time in the NFL.

In the past four seasons, Boswell is 24 of 28 in field goal attempts of 50 yards or more. Steelers fans are very proud to have this guy if needed to win big games in any condition.

It's hard to tell where the NFL regular season will take the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Giants could still turn their issues around and at least make this season respectable. The Steelers might be in a good spot in the AFC North right now, but they still haven't had a matchup against a competitor to truly test them.

Either way, both these teams will meet in a "Monday Night Football" showdown on Oct. 28, and if you're a Giants fan, you best hope that this stat that the Steelers kicker has over you is still not active.
