Aaron Rodgers still has not signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a full offseason of rumors and reports, the two sides are still connected as likely partners.
During the 2025 NFL draft, the Steelers opted to pass on taking a quarterback early. Instead, they waited all the way to the sixth round before taking Ohio State Buckeyes standout Will Howard.
That led many to believe that Pittsburgh knew it would be getting Rodgers.
Currently, the Steelers have a roster put together that should compete for the playoffs. However, they still need a starting quarterback.
At this point in time, the current quarterback room consists of Mason Rudolph and Howard. Both quarterbacks are talented, but they're not ideal starters for a team looking to make a Super Bowl run.
With the situation continuing to drag on, Pittsburgh legend Ben Roethlisberger has spoken out with his take on Rodgers.
"I'm not sure what the pulse of the fan base is, I'm sure there are some people who are still holding out hope and there are other people who are just like, 'Go. If he wanted to be here, he would have been here by now,'" Roethlisberger said. "He said on Pat's show that he has some personal issues he's working on. I have no idea what's going on, but let the man figure out what he needs to do and go from there."
Rodgers is still more than capable of being the type of quarterback that can lead a Super Bowl run. During the 2024 NFL season with the New York Jets, Rodgers completed 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
It still does seem likely that Rodgers will sign with the Steelers at some point in time. They are the only team with a chance to win a championship and the need for a quarterback currently. His other two options would be retirement or waiting as a free agent to see if another opportunity opens up.
Only time will tell, but Pittsburgh badly needs some kind of a resolution in the near future. Otherwise, they could consider making a move for another veteran quarterback option like Kirk Cousins.
Fans are starting to get a bit more frustrated with the situation dragging on, but Rodgers has always handled things his way and that isn't going to change now.
