Dating back to 1996, the Tampa Bay Lightning have played in the same arena, and since 2014 through a very successful period in the 2020's so far, the arena has been known to fans as Amalie Arena.

Now, in a surprising move, things have changed abruptly, as the organization has announced an official name change that is set to take place immediately ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Tampa Bay Lightning to Play in Rebranded 'Benchmark International Arena

On Wednesday, it was announced by the organization that the new arena will be known as 'Benchmark International Arena' on a multi-year deal, a change that is likely set to stay in place for a long time to come.

Benchmark International is a global M&A Firm, and now, they're making waves with this latest move, one that has caused mixed reactions among NHL and Lightning fans in particular, all of whom became accustomed to Amalie Arena.

In their time there, the Lightning saw the likes of Victor Hedman, Andrei Vasilevsky and Brayden Point among others make their way to the NHL, with the team hoisting the Stanley Cup not once, but twice during their tenure with the building known as Amalie Arena.

Ultimately though, things aren't changing except for the name on the outside of the building, and with everything else set to be the same, fans are hoping that the next era of their arena can see the same amount of success as they've seen over the past 11 years at Amalie Arena.
